EQUIPMENT AT THE SAINT MARINA HOSPITAL

The most modern hi-tech equipment in the Operating Rooms, Resuscitation Ward and Consulting rooms as well as in the Laboratories is a matter of pride in the St Marina Hospital.

Consulting Rooms:

• Modern equipment for early diagnostics of malignant servix uteri diseases – colposcope and videocolposcope with a record-keeping system for monitoring the patients in higher risk, produced by ÖLYMPUS, model : OCS 500 Japan;

• Ultrasound diagnostics equipment by ALOCA, Japan;

• Cardiotocograph, produced by Agilent, Germany;

• Modern gynecological chairs with hydraulic mechanism, providing maximum comfort for patients and for doctors, produced by Schmitz, Austria;

• Last generation gynecological cabinets with self-regulating heating of the examination instruments to the temperature of the human body, produced by Schmitz, Austria.

OPERATING ROOMS

At the Saint Marina Hospital the whole range of abdominal, vaginal and laparoscopic (bloodless) genital operations are performed. Operating rooms are equipped with the most modern appliances – laparoscopic set by Karl Storz, Germany; computer record-keeping system; electrosurgery equipment system – Liga Sure, high-frequency radioknife Ellman, electroknife Erbe; remote controlled operating table; illuminating system Berthold with remote controlled focusing and built-in camera; vacuum – aspiration system.

The laparoscopic set is equipped with a full range of instruments, allowing the performance of all types of laparoscopic gynecological interventions:

• Laparoscopically assisted radical vaginal hysterectomy of uterine carcinoma in IB1 FIGO stage;
• Laparoscopically assisted radical trachelectomy of young nulliparas with uterine carcinoma in IB1 FIGO stage, < 2 cm;
• Laparoscopic pelvic lymph dissection – selective, total, sentinel biopsy; (video)
• Laparoscopic transposition of ovaries;
• Laparoscopic total hysterectomy with removal of the uterus through the vagina with or without the adnexa;(video)
• Laparoscopically assisted radical vaginal hysterectomy with or without the adnexa;
• Laparoscopic cystectomy ; cystovariectomy and cystadnexectomy
• Laparoscopic myomectomy;
• Laparoscopic electrophenestration of the ovaries;
• Laparoscopic therapeutic interventions in endometriosis;
• Diagnostic laparoscopy

The advantages of laparoscopy are connected with less intraoperative blood loss and faster and less painful recovery of patients during the post-operative period. The record-keeping system gives the opportunity of registering the course of every surgery and with the patient being given an electronic copy afterwards.

The Liga Sure system is one of the most revolutionary achievements in the contemporary electrosurgery. It allows safe coagulation of both smaller and bigger blood vessels, which significantly shortens the duration of the surgery and eliminates the need of ligation placement with threads and clasps. The apparatus Liga Sure in our clinic can be used in laparoscopic surgeries as well as in open abdominal surgery.

RESUSCITATION

After the end of the operation, the patient is accommodated in a single resuscitation room. A highly qualified resuscitation team takes constant care of her during her stay there.

Every resuscitation bed is delivered on a special order by Invocare company. The patients can benefit from a 4-section positioning of the beds: the top and bottom parts of the lower limbs, pelvis, back, as well as a possibility of height change according to their preferences. The bed is with built-in soft and subdued light, which allows for further comfort and tranquility.

A 4-channel monitor with an EL display and built-in battery supply is used for the observation and control of the main life indicators:

• ECG
• Heart rate
• Respiration rate
• Non-invasive measurement of blood pressure
• Saturation
• Temperature

The resuscitation room is equipped with  a central oxygen installation, an oxygen masks and a  dosage regulator of the necessary oxygen supply.

STATIONARY WARDS

There are single and double rooms for post-operative care. The beds are regulated by remote control thus providing an ease and comfort of movement. There are mini-bar, remote-controlled TV, telephone for internal and external calls and the Internet connection in the wards.

A friendly staff of qualified and experienced midwives takes care of the patients. They closely monitor the patients’ condition and provide advice for their smooth recovery at home.
