Assoc. Prof. Zornitsa Gorcheva
Deputy Director for Research and Scientific Activities at St. Marina University Hospital – Pleven
Assoc. Prof. Zornitsa Gorcheva, MD, PhD is a specialist in gastroenterology and medical oncology with extensive clinical and academic experience. She graduated in Medicine from the Medical University of Pleven, where she also obtained her PhD in Gastroenterology and a Master’s degree in Public Health and Health Management.
In 2024, she was appointed Associate Professor of Gastroenterology. Since 2025, she has been serving as Vice-Rector for International Relations and Project Activities and Head of the Department of Oncology at the Medical University of Pleven.
Her clinical practice focuses on advanced gastrointestinal endoscopy, including endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), ERCP, abdominal ultrasound, as well as the diagnosis and staging of gastrointestinal malignancies.
Assoc. Prof. Gorcheva is the author of scientific publications and a monograph, has participated in national and international research projects, and is an active member of several prestigious professional organizations.
She is Chair of the Association of Young Hepatogastroenterologists in Bulgaria and founder of EndoBulvision, an educational initiative dedicated to the training of young physicians through international courses in modern and interventional endoscopy.
