Clinic of Imaging Diagnostics

The Clinic serves as a clinical base for the training of physicians specializing in the field of imaging diagnostics, as well as for PhD programs leading to the acquisition of the scientific degree "Doctor". Post-graduate specialization is offered in MRI, CT, mammography, and other disciplines.

In addition, the Clinic is actively engaged in scientific research in the fields of gynecology and ultrasound surgery (HIFU), abdominal, thoracic, musculoskeletal imaging, head and neck imaging, angiology, and oncology.

University Hospital St. Marina – Pleven can boast state-of-the-art, low-ionization and high-precision diagnostic equipment in the Imaging Department, using products from leading European manufacturers such as Siemens and Esaote.

Our equipment includes:

  • The latest Siemens digital X-ray system, suitable for both graphic and endoscopic examinations, is equipped with advanced software solutions to minimize ionizing radiation while maintaining excellent image quality.
  • Esaote ultrasound examinations conducted with the latest models - MyLab Seven and MyLab Six, known for their high quality and fully European production.
  • Siemens 128-slice CT scanner, the first one of this kind in Bulgaria, equipped with the innovative SAFIRE reconstruction technology, which reduces radiation exposure to patients by up to 60% without compromising image quality.
  • Mammomat Fusion digital mammography equipped with automatic dose control mechanisms and all necessary hardware and software applications.
  • Fusion Imaging - fusion of images from different types of devices, virtual navigation, GPS - provides the possibility of virtual biopsy and ultra-high ultrasound frequencies.

The clinic accepts compulsorily insured persons by the provisions of 330.

The main services provided within the structure include:

  1. Conventional radiography - covering all types of radiological examinations (radiographs and endoscopies);
  2. Mammograms;
  3. Ultrasound diagnostics (ultrasonography);
  4. Computed tomography - examinations of the head, spine, neck, chest, abdominal and pelvic organs, and musculoskeletal system;
  5. Magnetic resonance imaging - examinations of the head, spine, neck, chest and abdominal organs, chest, pelvis, and musculoskeletal system;
  6. Neovascular interventional imaging - use of minimally invasive methods under the control of imaging modalities such as X-ray, ultrasonography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging.

The professional team in the department of Imaging diagnostics consists of a total of 16 people - 1 professor, 7 doctors (including 3 specialists), and 8 radiology technicians.

Working hours:
The clinic provides a 24-hour on-call X-ray team that serves patients from all clinics and departments on the territory of the University Hospital St. Marina – Pleven.

From 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM - first shift
From 1:30 PM to 8:30 PM - second shift
From 8:30 PM to 8:00 PM - on duty from home for emergencies
